Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at Clay Springs Elementary! We are excited to welcome you and your child back for another great year of learning. Please read through the important information in this folder and keep it handy throughout the year.

In September we will be hosting our annual PTA Open House. You are invited to come and see what your child does at work all day. Open House PreK – 2nd grade will be held on Wednesday, September 19th from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Open House for 3rd grade – 5th grade will be held on Thursday, September 20th from 7:00-8:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to join us for these special evenings.

Due to the commitment of staff, students, and parents, Clay Springs earned an “A” grade from the state again this year. We have many challenges ahead of us, but working together for children we can make great things happen. We will continue to work toward our school vision:

As a team, the Clay Springs Elementary staff, students, parents and community will create a mutually respectful learning environment in which all students can achieve academic and personal success.

As parents/guardians you are your child’s first teacher. In order for your child to be successful in school you will need to do the following:

• Have your child at school on time every day. (In the classroom at 8:20 a.m.)
• Make sure your child attends school regularly. (Excused absences only, no tardies, no early pickups.)
• Set a regular homework time and check to be sure work is done.
• Communicate with the teacher.
• Set an example for your child by following school rules and policies.
• Praise your child’s good efforts.
• Read with your child.
• Keep a routine for study, play and bedtime.
• Tell your child how much you love him/her every day.

Sincerely,

Nancy R. Schroeder
